Construction Expense Tracking Software

The Goldenseal construction accounting software tracks expenses for equipment, labor, materials, subcontractors and other costs. It uses these transactions for job costs, time-and-materials billing and accounts payable.

HINT-- Use the Pay Bills command to pay expenses, after you enter them.

Equipment Hours

Goldenseal is time tracking software that lets you enter Equipment Hours records to keep track of the times when you use your own construction equipment on jobs. You can use them for any of the following reasons:

  • To charge for equipment time on a time and materials project
  • To track equipment usage for job costs
  • For equipment tracking, so you can see where equipment is currently located and who is using it
  • For detailed tracking of equipment costs in projects or manufacturing

Labor Hours

Enter Labor Hours records to keep track of employee and owner time. They give you a permanent record of all your labor costs.

You can use Labor Hours records for any of the following reasons:

  • So you can keep track of payroll
  • To charge for the labor cost on a time and materials project
  • To track labor costs for job costs reports
  • To keep track of what each employee does when
  • As a reference for the labor cost on past projects

Material Purchases

Enter Material Purchase records for construction materials that you buy. They give you a permanent record of all your material costs.

Goldenseal will automatically post material purchases to job cost totals and time and materials billing. If you use an item breakdown, it will also update the material cost in each Assembly that includes those items.

When you pay for material purchases with cash, check or credit card, Goldenseal automatically creates an instant purchase transaction that pays for the purchase.

Goldenseal automatically adds billed purchases to your accounts payable. To pay for billed purchases, use the Pay Bills command.

Inventory Used

Enter Inventory Used records when you use construction materials from inventory. Goldenseal will automatically post the inventory cost to job costs and time and materials billing. It also reduces the inventory quantity for the item.

Subcontractor Costs

Enter Subcontractor Cost records when subcontractors do work for you on your construction projects. Goldenseal will automatically post the expense to job costs and time and materials billing.

When you pay subcontractors with cash, check or credit card, Goldenseal automatically creates an instant purchase transaction that pays for the purchase. To pay for billed subcontractor costs, use the Pay Bills command.

Other Costs

Enter Other Costs records for miscellaneous expenses. Goldenseal will automatically post the expense to job costs and time and materials billing.
